Sindy Vainshtein - first-year student at the Faculty of Stomatology of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy - became the champion of the Republic of Moldova in Judo among seniors, in the 48 kg category, female. The Moldovan Judo Championship among seniors was held on December 7 and 8, 2023, in Chisinau, in memory of Coach Emeritus Vasile Colta.

The student's family come from the Republic of Moldova, 35 years ago they moved to Israel, where the young girl was born. "I decided to study Stomatology because I always knew that I would be a doctor, no matter what. My father also studied at this university 45 years ago, so I followed his path," said Sindy Vainshtein.

Sindy has been practicing professional judo since the age of 4, and her achievements in sport are due to her father, who, as a hobby, coaches and runs a judo club for children in Israel. The young girl remembers that in her childhood, her parents tried to instill in her a love for dancing and gymnastics, but she did not want to follow this direction. She was interested in the judo training that her father organized for children and wanted to try out this kind of sport. Initially, her father was against it, but later he approved her choice, and to this day, the 20-year-old student practices judo at a professional level. Before coming to Moldova, she became Israel's judo champion 8 times, took 3rd place at the European Cups and 5th place at the U21 European Championships.

Sindy Vainshtein currently represents the Republic of Moldova in judo competitions. In September 2023, she won 9th place at the World Judo Championship for juniors, and in October - first place at the Moldovan U-23 Judo Championship in the under-23 category. "I represent Nicolae Testemitanu  University and I am proud of the first place both for me and for our university. I am happy to study at this institution and to represent Moldova and the University of Medicine with honor at every competition. And I hope to represent Nicolae Testemitanu University at the university championships as well", stated the student. The Moldovan champion thanked her team, the president of the Judo Federation Andrei Golban, the vice-president Victor Florescu and the women's coach Igor Neagu, for their support and training.

Over 170 athletes from the Republic of Moldova competed in the National Judo Championship for the title of national champion, in seven weight categories, for women and men. The competition was organized by the Judo Federation of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research.
